This guide will teach you how to enable IE Mode to load legacy websites using the Internet Explorer rendering engine on Chromium Edge for Windows 10 on Windows 11. Alongside the settings, it is also possible to use the Group Policy Editor to configure the compatibility mode. If you have to use this compatibility mode, the version of Microsoft Edge available in the stable channel includes the “Internet Explorer compatibilities” settings to quickly enable IE Mode and a separate option to open Edge when browsing an incompatible website with Internet Explorer. The new approach loads the pages within Microsoft Edge like a regular website without using and managing multiple browsers. The feature is known as “IE Mode” and has been designed for organizations to load internal sites without using a different browser or redesigning the legacy pages.
You can also set up IE mode on Microsoft Edge through Group Policy.Īlongside all the features and improvements for the version of Microsoft Edge based on the Chromium engine, Microsoft also includes a compatibility mode using the Internet Explorer rendering engine to load old websites. Restart the browser to start using IE mode for legacy websites. Select the Allow option for the “Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode (IE mode)” setting. To enable IE mode, open Microsoft Edge > Settings > Default browser. Click the Download icon at the bottom of the browser to see the recently downloaded files. By default, the Safari browser saves any downloaded files to the Downloads folder that appears in your Dock. Browse for the location you would like to save the file in the frame on the left side of the dialog box, edit the filename as you desire in the file name field and click Save when ready to save the file to your device. If you are saving the file, a navigation window will open. 
Select Open with to open the file in the default application or Choose Save File to save the file to your device.
The Firefox browser will open a dialog box. The file is automatically placed in the Downloads folder on your device. Click Open file to view the downloaded file. The Edge browser will open a dialog box in the upper right screen area. The file is automatically saved in the Downloads folder on your device. Once the download is finished you can open the file by clicking the file name in the download bar. The Chrome browser will open a download bar across the bottom of the screen with the incoming file name and download time remaining displayed. Click the Download button above or below the open document. Click on the link to the document on Content.
